It’s back again! Every year around this time, the restaurants of the Theater District come together in a huge gathering for the Taste of Times Square. All of those lovely pedestrian streets now closed to vehicle traffic will house some of the best restaurants in the area, representing cuisine from all around the world. Each restaurant will offer sample plates of their best dishes, which will range from $2 to $6–a steal, considering some of the full-size dishes will cost you over $30 per entree. Famous Times Square establishments like Joe Allen Restaurant, Carmine’s, and Le Rivage will have booths set up starting at 5:00PM and running until 9:00. There’ll even be an Instagram photo contest, giving away a $150 restaurant gift certificate for the best photo of the night!

This is the perfect way to try some of those restaurants you’ve deemed as “tourist traps,” but still hold an intriguing allure to them, drawing you to their cuisine. (I mean, would you, as a New Yorker, really be caught dead in Shula’s Steakhouse, but still want to try their tenderloin tips? You bet I do!) So check it out, try a few plates, and blend in with the touristy Times Square crowd–if only for one night.
